PhD in Private/Commercial Law by the Law School of the Lisbon University (2012);
Master in Private/Commercial Law by the Law School of the Lisbon University (1998); 
Degree in Private/Commercial Law by the Law School of the Lisbon University (1989).

Professor at the Law School of the Lisbon University since 1989, with the successive positions of Junior Assistant, Trainee Assistant, Assistant and Assistant Professor (Private Law Field).

Technical assistant at the Bissau Law School (Guinea-Bissau)/African Cooperation Mission (1995-1997).

Co-director of AGECOP – Association for the Management of Private Copy, in representation for GESTAUTOR – Association for the Copyright Management, between 2001 and 2008.

Executive coordinator of the Portuguese team, which drafted the project of a Companies Act for Guinea-Bissau (2007).

Lecturer at the Portuguese National Administration Institute, from 2004 to 2008.

Columnist for the Portuguese weekly newspaper Expresso (online edition), between 2007 and 2008.

Board member of the Portuguese Competition Authority (2008-2013).

Co-Director of the Scientific Journal Competition & Regulation (Publishers: Almedina/IDEFF/ADC) between 2010 and 2012.

Non-permanent researcher at the British IALS (Institute of Advanced Legal Studies), London, United Kingdom.

He cooperates, since 1997, with several institutions, academic and private, in the Portuguese speaking African countries (Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape-Verde); consultant in African Private Law-issues.

International experience in Copyright Law, Company law and Competition Law.

Author of several monographs and scientific papers in the fields of Commercial Law, Company Law, Contract Law, Family Law, Civil Procedural Law and Competition Law.
