January 2016 has marked the beginning of full operation of the Single Resolution Board (SRB), the new EU regulatory agency in charge of banking resolution, which represents a new landmark stage in the building of the European Banking Union. As part of that process, Professor Luis Silva Morais, in his capacity as member of the Appeal Panel of the SRB, took part in proceedings of this body in Brussels aimed at putting in place operationally all the building blocks of such supranational (EU) framework of banking resolution.

Professor Lúcio Tomé Feteira published his book 'The Interplay between European and National Competition Law after Regulation 1/2003. United (Should) We Stand?' (Kluwer Law International, 2015).

The analysis follows a functional method of comparative legal analysis, reviewing the most relevant norms in the selected jurisdictions (Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom), particularly in what concerns their goals and function in the context of their respective legal systems.

Special attention is paid to two specific sectors – the motor-vehicle and the retailing industries – which have most often triggered relevant legislation and case law in the jurisdictions covered. Legal scholarship in the field is also drawn upon.
