Gonçalo Coelho, a new member of LSM Law Firm, is a PhD graduate from the European University Institute (IUE), Florence 2016. In addition to being Counsel of our Law Firm, Gonçalo is a Consultant with the World Bank’s Competition Policy Team, having also worked with the Competition branch of UNCTAD. He recently co-authored with Profs. Giorgio Monti and Miguel Maduro, of the IUE, a study for the European Parliament on “Geo-blocking between competition law and regulation”.

This Study analyses the Commission’s May 2016 Proposal for a Regulation addressing geo-blocking and other forms of customer discrimination based on customers' nationality, place of residence or place of establishment within the internal market. The study assesses the Commission’s proposal under the Internal Market, Competition law and sector-specific rules and provides for policy recommendations and specific amendments to the proposal.
