Professor Luis Silva Morais, has been designated to the Appeal Panel of the European Banking Single Resolution Board (SRB), the new EU Agency entrusted with the task of establishing a recovery and resolution regime for banks in the Eurozone, helping to avoid future bailouts minimizing costs to taxpayers and the economy (and established under Regulation (EU) nº 806/2014 of 15 July 2014, setting uniform rules and a uniform procedure for the resolution of credit institutions and certain investment firms in the framework of a Single Resolution Mechanism and a Single Resolution Fund and amending Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010). The mandate of the seven members of the Appeal Panel of the SRB is of five years (renewable).
